I am pleased to announce the immediate availability of the 3 amp ECLIPSE ESC, # ECL-3r.

This is a two part ESC with the dimension of both items 25 mm x 60 mm x 15 mm. Small enough for some larger H0/00 size equipment and many 0 scale locos.
There are convenient screw terminals for the battery voltage IN, motor power OUT, directional constant brightness lighting and 4 x sound triggers.
All for A$99. About US$ 85.
You can use pretty well any low cost 2.4 GHz 5/6 channel R/C equipment such as the Hobby King R/C which simply plugs in upside down. No servo leads are needed. Hobby King is sold as the EXCEED brand in the USA. I am not sure what it is sold as in the UK.

That's a very neat unit, Tony. Great to see that the accessory functions are included at the price.

So what are we now looking for a complete system including your Eclipse 3 and the cheapest reliable transmitter and receiver and how does the total price compare with your competition, in the UK and the US?

Regards
Peter

Hello Peter.

Thanks for the compliment.
It has taken awhile to get this new stuff up and running. It is my first attempt at SMD technology and it wasn't until I found a local gentleman who could work with SMD components that I could proceed.
The # ECL-3r can be used with any of the more popular 5/6 channel 2.4 GHz radios such as Spektrum, Twister, Turborix and E-Sky. It may also work with other brands I have no experience with, such as the Giant Cod.
The names the manufacturers come up with never fail to amuse me.
Perhaps someone who is more in the know can advise us where the various brands of 2.4 GHz R/C can be purchased in the UK.

The # ECL-3r should sell in the UK for around £55. Add in a Turborix R/C (same as the Hobby King system) for about £40-50 and the total package would be about £100.
This is very competitive with any other system on the market given that constant brightness directional lights and 4 x sound triggers are built in. It is designed to be compatible with the six major sound systems including the MyLocosound sound system.

The pics shown above have used RX's that have servo pins at right angles to their pcb which allows the RX to simply plug in flat on the decoder part of the # ECL-3r. This is a short lived idea I first saw advertised by Keller Engineering in September of 1986. I have never seen it since and thought it could be quite useful nowadays with the long range interference free 2.4 GHz R/C systems.
The system works really well with the Planet Twister brand but unfortunately they have only one RX which features the servo pins coming out the end of the RX. This means that, whilst the RX will plug in OK, it cannot lay flat. The Twister RX can be used with the # DEC-ADAPT cable set.
