A Dolt is what holds bridges together

why not?

afraid to use up your rails?
i clean my rails with a block and sandpaper for forty years now.
there is still no feel- or seeable difference between new or old rails.

As Mike said, depends on the grade Korm, that looks like full on sandpaper, not a fine polishing paper. It's not about wearing the brass away but more about increased rate of dirt/oxidation by creating a rougher surface with increased surface area.
