Evening All,

Does anyone know of any manufactures who produce brass Baldwin builders plates for G or F scale locos?

I'm going to repaint a Spectrum 2-8-0, so will no doubt loose the printed builders plate currently moulded to the smoke box.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Stephen

Narrow Planet can do them for you to any size you want and on nice thin brass. If they do not have a suitable Baldwin plate on file just take an image from Google images and tell them the works no and build date you need.

The builder plates on your Connie are separate parts from the smokebox body that have been glued in place. You could try to lever them off carefully with a scalple blade betwixed plate and smokebox or try "popping" them off by prodding through the two tiny locating holes each plate has from the inside of the smokebox. Glued on items sometimes come off quite easily.
Max.

Hi Max,

Thanks for the info - I have to say I didn't even think about them potentially being a separate part, so that could be a good option.

I have however purchased a second connie (talk about addictions), so would be good to have different works numbers on the builders plates.

Cheers,

Stephen

Trackside Details sell them in several sizes and also have them for Porter and other makers in 1:20.3 scale.
