A friend sent me this and as I only have one Massoth chip set up by someone else I thought I'd ask the experts if they've come across it? I'd suggest a reset but not sure how it affects the sound files?

" I have bought an LGB Coca Cola Steam Loco with Massoth chip and sound. I have recoded the chip with my LGB system and the loco runs perfectly. All the sounds are on there and they all play one after the other they do not respond to an individual address on the LGB keypad. Am I doing something wrong?"

What version of LGB is being used. Is it 2 or 3, is it 'P' ?
How is the playing initiated. Does it just play or is it started by key1 or something?

Mts2 and not sure if it's parallel. My serial one didn't cause issues with Massoth chips though.

More info-

Yes all my controllers have the “P”.

The sound unit is definitely Massoth but to be honest I haven’t taken the thing apart – the chip itself could by anyone’s but I have changed the address of the chip using my LGB equipment and the loco runs fine
.

It had no instructions with it at all nor a box but it is a Forney Steam Loco.

I assumed by pressing the controller digits after readdressing the chip it would get some reaction but nothing.

If this is the older model loco.. Then the sound-system will very probably be serial??
It may well also have 'keep alive' capacitors on the board..

You may need to change the sound part separately?

If you press Function 1 once, do you get an effect?
If so, if you press it twice, in succession, do you get a different sound?

You could also see if the 'sounds' respond to the 'old' DCC address..

Good point Phil. If the sound unit is separate from the decoder - like the old LGB sound box thingy - it wont have changed address with the driving decoder. Swap back to the original address and check.

You will have to get inside the loco to disconnect the sound box and change its address separately to the driving decoder. I had this on a Harz 2-6-2 Ballerina I got off Ebay - it is still on the original address which is the only loco I have which does not follow my preferred coding system.

I'm wondering from what Peter has said if the sound card is wired to the motor output from the chip so only getting DC.
That it has all these sounds suggests it's a dcc one I guess as there was only whistle and bell on the analogue ones?
I've suggested trying it separately.
