73302-modellbau-3818-24.03.2018.jpg

Morte details will be added.

73303-modellbau-3818-24.03.2018.jpg

73304-modellbau-3818-24.03.2018.jpg

I chose the sleepers for better contact. If that is not working, I can remove them very quickly.

73307-modellbau-3818-25.03.2018.jpg

I got 4 new moters (for other projects as well) but there was no description with it. I will digitalise it, but I'm not sure about the cables. Can anyone help, please. It is a Massoth emotion 815501 decoder.
Thanks in advance. - Peter

Right...so, please tell us, at what point are you going to turn them upside down and hang them from the rail.....?

tac

:envy: I tried, as you see in the following picture. Problem: test passengers told, that they had to puke and felt uncomfortable. So I decided to bring that car back on rails.

That looks very like the Danglebahn in Wuppertal to me! Great shot.

Some more works are done. Slowly the trams work of 3818 going on. After I tried it 6 times to built the back end it is now made. The 7th try is ok now.
72217-modellbau-3818-27.01.2018.jpg

This is the 7th back end I made on this car. Also the floor has been made 4 times.

72218-modellbau-3818-27.01.2018.jpg

The back end, called section B is nearls ready.

Tram 3818 from the left side.
72224-modellbau-3818-27.01.2018.jpg

Now I found the blue print ant copied it into Scale 1:22,5.
73294-modellbau-3818-17.03.2018.jpg

So I see what is wrong or false.

73298-modellbau-3818-17.03.2018.jpg

It looks like it fits to the drawing.

73296-modellbau-3818-17.03.2018.jpg

73300-modellbau-3818-17.03.2018.jpg

The middle section ios called part C.

By the way the layout has to be renewed, the old one is worn out. The wood I used for it could not stand the rain. The man at the DIY store gave me the wrong information.for the wood.
54882-fps-hardtfest-22.06.2014.jpg

That is the old layout. The main line is in the middle

73280-modellbau-3818-10.03.2018.jpg

With the new line it will be to the outer side. I t will still have to tracks for parking models.

Today 4 motor boogies arrived. These are USA trains motors. I just work on them. Later this night I will post a photo.
Rather loke your near full sized Tram as a Control Centre for the Layout. Can we have a few pictures of that with som idea of the insides and size please?

Hi all together,
here in Wuppertal the temperature is to much. It is hot. So first of all I'll send you a photo from Wuppertal trams when it was a bit cooler.
37740329_2169881153294794_3729669477231493120_n.jpg

But now I show you the small steps of what had be done to my tram projects. First a last report to the Düsseldorf tram. This tram 2309 has had test drives in Wuppertal, before the operator of trams decided to buy there own articulated trams. I bought this tram on ebay for a good price. But the problem was that this tram was not buildt in a good craftmenship work. The model losts parts and I started to repais it. This tram was also plannend to be a starte for my own tram from Wuppertal. But and that was a problem too Düsseldorf trams are 10 cm (2,30m) wider than Wuppertal trams (2,20m) Shortly before I got the Düsseldorf tram on Ebay I'd orderd a G scale kit in the 2,20m format. So I decided to refit the Düsseldorf tram model 2308 into Düseldorf tram 2309 who it looks in the 50th.

2309-2.jpg

So it looked when it arrived at home. Some mistakes came with it. The former scratch builder did not watch to the right details.

2309-1.jpg

This is the rear view. The lights are absolute wrong on that tram.

I repainted it and deleted the ad, because it was very pixellated. And as I run my trams on children fairs I don't accept any ad for an alcoholic drink.
73852-modellbau-3818+3208-01.05.2018.jpg

Some more details had bin added to it. and the route number and destination is made now for the route 11, whre this tram runned in 1957.

73858-modellbau-3818+3208-01.05.2018.jpg

The back end is also converted to the early time of DüWag trams.

On a friends garden railway layout:
74193-mdellbau-kurt-3818-24.05.2018.jpg

The bridge is just new and not ready.

74199-mdellbau-kurt-3818-24.05.2018.jpg

Albert couplings will be added at last. And a decoder comes today for it.

But now to my (dream) model.
74189-mdellbau-kurt-3818-24.05.2018.jpg

On the same event my tram 3818 has had a test ride in the nature. It runs nearly perfect. Only little parts had to be inspected. All switches had been no problem.

74192-mdellbau-kurt-3818-24.05.2018.jpg

74195-mdellbau-kurt-3818-24.05.2018.jpg

It had been a nice play with it. But.... After arouind 30 or more rounds the tram stopped an o small gradient part of the layout. And my trams converted into a steam liner. Grrrrr. The decoder smoked. A circiut inside the tram, cooked it. A weight was too lose and made the contact. That's life.

74230-mdellbau-3818-12.06.2018.jpg

Back at the work shop parts of the roof are made.

74231-mdellbau-3818-12.06.2018.jpg

The lorry in the foreground is a project for a young boy (14) He liked to build it with my help. It is a radio controlled one. The youing man looks now fore more details.

74246-mdellbau-3818-22.07.2018.jpg

Running boards, radio antenna resistor and a cap for the rope. is made. The is needed to raise the contact bow.

74250-mdellbau-3818-22.07.2018.jpg

Brake and back lights are mad with a Lego brick. The little pipes take a 5mm LED.

74247-mdellbau-3818-22.07.2018.jpg

On the back end it looks a bit different. The headlight is a bit smaller the the front one.

74454-modellbau-03.08.2018.jpg

Most DüWag trams in Wuppertal could be filled with sand, from a sand tower. The sand is used against slipplery conditions or emergency brake. So I tried to make them by my self. It was not succesfull. So spend an order to firm woh does chemical etchings. My tram needs four lids to fill in the sand. Now I have 104 of those.

74455-modellbau-03.08.2018.jpg

I had a photo made in a museum in Dortmund and measure it out. With the photo and my drawing the lids where made.

74460-modellbau-04.08.2018.jpg

There it has to be!

74461-modellbau-04.08.2018.jpg

It was tor warm here, so I didn't see what the macro lens showed me later. I have to clean the area with smoot sand paper.

With the same order level I'd ordered a steel grating for the roof part. This steel grating covered ressistors and other electrical things on the roof.
74456-modellbau-03.08.2018.jpg

With the help of Thomas Engel, who produced it it was bent to a a grating part. Thomas Engel is also involved in G-scale and builds narrow gauge railwaays and other stuff in G-scale.

74464-modellbau-04.08.2018.jpg

This is only a test how it could be. The poroblem is now, that parts of the resistors looking underness the side of the grating and they are visible. How to make it visible in G-scale? I do have some photos with parts of the roof. I'll try to make it realistic.

That's all for today. Hope that there are not so much Kraut-English, so you can understand, what I mean. Peter from Wuppertal / Germany

Testing, testing, testing.... and playinf playing, and so on....
A friend of mine made a new viaduct with concret piles. An other friend and me were invited to test and play with our trams. Here are the pictures.

Before tram passengers allowed to go on trams over the viaduct, work trams 713, 712 and 712 made a test,

After that the first passenger trams came behind the work trams.

And later an evening special tour.

Two days later, than the test on the viaduct an 85 year old tram modeler, Helmut Becker rang me on the phone. He envited me and my friend WIlfried to come along and play wiht our trams. He would like to see my 8-axle Düwag tram. He is allready fit in his mind and actually he built a coal tram loco, Here in Wuppertal we called that monster "Dicke Berta"
The only problem was, that he can't clean the rails any more. He said, that this would be the first run this year. So I said, we will help him. A friend of Helmut brought his Hamburg Tram. as well and so we had a good Day and a good meal, he provided.
Thank you Helmut for the nice day.
By the way, next weekend, 1st and 2nd September we are on the big LGB show at the Tramway Museum Hannover / Wehmingen. It is absolut worth going there. (Not only for my models!)

Helmut (85 years) just made the old tram above and three trailers. Zwo trailers are summer trailers with open sides. It runs on route 11 towards Weiherstr.
The Düwag tram came in the late 50ies from Düüseldorf to Wuppertal. In WUppertal this tram did made test rides, Later they orderd a bit different type of Düwag trams. DÜsseldor 2308 with destination blind on route 11 to the oppsite end of line 11.

Above Wuppertal tram 3818,
below Düsseldorf tram 2308.
The differences between this two cars?
Düsseldorf 2308 (2,30m) is 10 cm wider than Wuppertal 3818 (2,20m). And of coures the different boogies.

Hope you enjoy the report aynd picures.

Your knowledge of German trams seems boundless and your narrative interesting and informative. Thanks for sharing all those pictures. That viaduct is terrific.

And some news from my trams. I've got new Albert coupling, I showed in an other thread and I ordered some Düwag signs. They are silver nickel edched. The last phot shows the coupling again. The upper ones are the new ones and the lower ones are the ones from Rs.modelle.

And my works going on. My friend and me rented a little work room. So first af all I repaired my 6-axle tram Rheinbahn 2308. It has been a big repair. By that I used the chance to put some new interriors and light in it.
7999-2308-01.jpg

ANd over the weekend I worked on three different trams. That make sence, when one tram needs a break to dry. Or I searched for an other idea or I do need a break.

My KS tram trailer goes on after 6 years of waiting in a corner. I made a new roof and all details are ready now. At the end I sprayed filler to it and sanded it. Next step is once again the filler and than sanding, filler, sanding...... Hope that is done next weekend.

So, here I am. @ idlemarvel, I had a look to the spray filler, but... no information in English on the can. It is an acrylic filler, you can spray onto the object. I fills small scrachtes and you can imagine, where you made mistakes. Rest of glue, little holes and so on. So I used a sanding paper and made it even. Dupli Coulor cans are for cars.

74999-532-04.jpg

This is what the tram trailer looked like tonight.

The yellow marking showed me old glue rests.
The blue marking hiding little dents there.
The red markings show two cut edges that have now been adjusted.

Thanks Peter. That can seems to have every language apart from English on it! The brand Dupli-Color is well known so I'm sure I can find it on the Internet somewhere.
