Hello out there.
Bits and bits are done to my models. You can't really see differences, but the small things need a lot of time. So today some pictures of what I have done during the last weeks.

54285-modellbau-aufbauwagen-02.05.2014.jpg

These types of tram cars are called "Aufbauwagen" In Wuppertal we had 5 similar cars. 4 on meter gauge and one on normal gauge 1435 mm. The Wuppertaler Stadtwerke A.G. builds them in their own bus garage. There where differences at the front doors. Two cars had one sliding door and 3 had splitted sliding doors on the platforms. My friend wanted a normal gauge tram car and he decided to name his car No. 266. This number has never run in Wuppertal. But the one car with that “Aufbauwagen” livery for normal gauge had had number 265. So I made one for him. For my self I couldn’t understand why he not wanted the tram car 265. That had been very easy to build either.

54284-modellbau-aufbauwagen-02.05.2014.jpg

This is the side view of the tram "266".

54327-modellbau-tw-266-08.05.2014.jpg

Now the tram can do on duty, because it has got windscreen wiper.

54295-modellbau-tw-266-19.05.2014.jpg

With an airbrush we painted the garnish strips onto it.

54341-modellbau-tw-266-22.05.2014.jpg

After that we mounted the motor to the tram.

54350-modellbau-probefahrt-bmb-24.05.2014.jpg

But that wasn’t enough to do a test ride with it. So we went to the "Bergische Straßenbahnmuseum" and used the little lay out and tested all the trams, we nearly finished. On 8th and 9th June they have a special event at this museum. Inside the depot some model lay outs with tram and train models well be displayed. They come in different scales, from H0 to G. I'm not there; I'm on a campsite with my scouts. My friend will run our layout. Kids and older kids can ride it with a self made controller.

54365-modellbau-probefahrt-bmb-24.05.2014.jpg

So with that little layout we took some good photos.

54362-modellbau-probefahrt-bmb-24.05.2014.jpg

The models looked much better, than on the floor in our meeting room.

54349-modellbau-probefahrt-bmb-24.05.2014.jpg

This model is still alive in the Danish tram museum.

54352-modellbau-probefahrt-bmb-24.05.2014.jpg

Only the real sound is missing. Will that ever come to my models? I don't know.

Last but not least. My freelance water car has got a label and it make now car 711 to it.
54323-mdellbau-sprengwagen-711-08.05.2014.jpg

The lables are plotted and fixed with clear paint.

54324-mdellbau-sprengwagen-711-08.05.2014.jpg

Now it is car No. 711.

54360-modellbau-probefahrt-bmb-24.05.2014.jpg

Two work cars on track.

54354-modellbau-probefahrt-bmb-24.05.2014.jpg

An amazing view, or?

54356-modellbau-probefahrt-bmb-24.05.2014.jpg

Also a good view to all of that tested trams.

I hope that this report is not boring you. I will use that thread for ongoing news.

By the way. Is someone interested into a very old Bachman tram? It is in a very bad condition and has, I think an old motor version. I was never pleased with that motor. In the end it landed in a corner of my room and I forgot it for a long, long time. After cleaning a lot of my rubbish I found again. For a donation to my scout group I'll give it away. On Monday I'll take some photos of it and show it here.

Step by step it is going forward. Next weekend it Whitsun in Germany. And at the Bergische Museumsbahn is a special event. Near the old tram you will find in their depots tram and railway displays. Mostly in scale 1, or scale G. On Sunday and Monday my friend set up the tram layout from our scout group. He has a nephew who helps him. And me? Hmmh I'm on a scout campsite and play the chief cook.

For that event we put a temporary Albert coupling onto the tram 266. Now it runs together with an older trailer 485. Looks good. Hopefully to get the city arms on Monday to complete the decoration on that tram.

Very nice.... I have a question re German trams; are the motors and trailers sequentially numbered? I remember in Adelaide the magnificent H cars had to be coupled in numerical sequence. It was the duty of the roster clerk to ensure that trams were despatched to either termini were sent in numerical sequence to ensure numerical pairing was done.

Next models are in progress. At the moment my friend and I are working on 3 1/2 Trams. The tower car isn't finished, after the last event I’m missing one of the warning lights. And I have no spare parts to repair it. I'm looking at the internet; on flee markets and so on. So this model is nearly finished. The paintings have to be done ands that light has to be found.

So we started other projects. There was one in the parking lane. It is a trailer, so called KSW Trailer. In Wuppertal we had only trailers of that type. They run on both tracks. Meter gauge (1.000 mm) and Normal gauge (1435 mm).

I had made one before and it crashed to pieces. Look here, please: What happend? After an event I check all my trams and if necessary I repair them. So I did in April 1991. Than my friend rang me up and asked for help. He wanted me to record a movie at TV. My recorder had been used to edit my own videos and stand near my computer. So I had to move it to my television. On the way to I struggled with the old heavy recorder and it felt down. And onto the testing tracks with my KSW trailer. The reorder hit the roof and pushed out of the tracks into the transformer. See the Resultat in the video.

I repaired it, but at all the braking, or cutting lines on that accident of that model are very sensitive. In the end there was no way to repair it once more. A new model has to be built. At first I made the coachwork. A tried 3 times to make a roof out of plastic material. I made a wooden form and baked it in my Oven. I had 3 goes. Im still not agree with it. Another problem was I had no Idea how this car looked from the inside. So I went to the Wuppertal tram museum. They have one. I have got tithe permission to take photos. Here they are:

00001-lgb-3.jpg

A photo of the first one.

00002-lgb-5.jpg

It was the first models I made with a drawing. So it was corect on 1/10 of a mm. Only the interiors I have not made, before the accident.

39558-wsw-532-modell-16.12.2012.jpg

The new one was started in October 2013 and stuck until now.

51698-wsw-modellbau-30.10.2013.jpg

This is the form for the plastic roof.

51700-wsw-modellbau-30.10.2013.jpg

It came into towe frames and than in the backing oven. It was "cooked" by 180°

51702-wsw-modellbau-30.10.2013.jpg

That is the top frame.

51712-wsw-modellbau-30.10.2013.jpg

The Oven was not long enough. We used a blow-dryer to give the roof the end form.

51715-wsw-modellbau-30.10.2013.jpg

It works quite good...

51736-wsw-modellbau-30.10.2013.jpg

...we thought at first. But it does not fit in place. So I will do it again in two sections.

535-strassenbahn-wuppertal.jpg

Before I do it, I searched for photos with more details. Here is one of the normal gauge series,

55200a-911-27.01.2008.jpg

and here is one of the meter track gauge. Thera are differences at the fron panels as you can see.

37581-bmb-911-ksw-15.10.2011.jpg

3 years later I could make the inner Photos.

37579-bmb-911-ksw-15.10.2011.jpg

Even in that bad condition it gave me an inspiration of how it looked like.

37580-bmb-911-ksw-15.10.2011.jpg

On one side you could see this electric board with fuses and switches.

55182-modellbau-ksw-09.08.2014.jpg

So I built it in my model. When it is ready, I think you can't find this detail.

55187-modellbau-ksw-10.08.2014.jpg

The writings on it are made on my computer. The truck ist temporary mounted to set up the height for it.

55202-bmb-ksw-96-10.08.2014.jpg

And than a pleasant surprise arrived on friday last weekend. Wuppertal tram museum got a loan KSW motorcar from Bochum. It will be in servoce until the end of this season. It comes by a contract paper because the museum had done a lot of restoration to that car.

55191-modellbau-ksw-10.08.2014.jpg

So I had a good view to the axle-bearing and the springs.

55193-modellbau-ksw-10.08.2014.jpg

But also the electromagnetic rail brake is visible.

55181-modellbau-ksw-09.08.2014.jpg

So i produced the seats and the switch cabinet and the wheel handbrake.

55188-modellbau-ksw-10.08.2014.jpg

Another roof has been made. Comes out quite good, but still not good enough.

During the next days I'll show you the other models we are wroking on.

Very interesting build. I would never have thought of using plastic (moulded over a former) for the roof. I can see the obvious difficulties in doing so. I look forward to you posting more information and photos of this model.

At first thank for your comments. And yes it needs a bit more practising to "cook" that roof, so I will try it a 3rd time.

Yesterday I worked on the bogie frame. I have only some photos from the underneath. There is no drawing, and no dimensions, so this part looks like. (When it is finished, nobody turn this car over, may be the driver, when he goes to fast in a curve.) )
55207-ksw-bw-modell-16.08.2014.jpg

On the axles it has now disk brakes, but how looked the brake pad and where they have been?

55210-ksw-bw-modell-16.08.2014.jpg

Inside handrails are made and security wall for the sliding doors came to it.

55211-ksw-bw-modell-16.08.2014.jpg

The seats will have grab handle and will be painted in light brown.

During brakes on that KSW trailer, I'm working on motor car 221
kl%20-%2058-09-04%20Wuppertal%20Wupperfeld%20Abzw%20Tw%20224%20+%20231%20-%20Bouwman%2031.375.jpg

I have only these to photos. On the left is motor car 224, from the same series.

IMG220.jpg

This is motor car 220.

40855-drk-fest--29.04.2012.jpg

That picture show motor car 220 as my first build model. It is more than 23 years old, and still runs oerfect.

55148-modellbau-tw-221-02.08.2014.jpg

That will be motor car 221.

55169-modellbau-tw-221-12.06.2014.jpg

You can imagine, that the middle passenger part is made with an LGB chassis.

55196-modellbau-tw-221-09.08.2014.jpg

A fisrt driving stand is made as a test.

Last but not least my friend is working on his tram. He bought that modell 2012 at the model tram show in Hanover. (Here a link to some picture made in 2013)
This event will be again an the weekend 6th and 7th September 2014, here, than go for special events, please

50751-evag-tag-der-offenen-tuer-21.09.2013.jpg

I do not have any photos of that car, so I show at first pictuers from another scratch builder.

50766-evag-tag-der-offenen-tuer-21.09.2013.jpg

This series came in to liveries. First in green.

50757-evag-tag-der-offenen-tuer-21.09.2013.jpg

They have been made by Michel Schmerenbeck from Wupptertal. The itsself runs at the Vestiche Straßenbahn.

50606-modelle-wehmingen-07.09.2013.jpg

So we got this tram with motor and boogies.

55180-modellbau-vestische-09.08.2014.jpg

Now we start to finish it. It was made with a cnc miller. So it looks perfect at this time.... And now we are working on it. Puuuh!

55178-modellbau-vestische-09.08.2014.jpg

First we had to repair the roof, Itr was made with a Resin form. It was glued together. When we start to polish it, it broke on one side. So we put fibreglas an polyester resin to stabilise it. And it needs a long time to dry.

So, we desite to put more details on driver's-cab control panel.
55213-ksw-bw-modell-16.08.2014.jpg

All the small things to do, costs a lot of time to realize.

By the way, here a video of my first KSW trailer, after a heavy video recorder felt on its roof.

I don't know where to post it...

Of course the tram model event at the tramway museum in Sehnde, near Hannover comes closer know, ---- next week. So I would like to finish this freelance tower car for that at first.

55219-turmwagen-712-28.08.2014.jpg

The ligthning is made and the power to the lights coming from a 9V block battery. The roof and the chassis are painted again.

55214-turmwagen-712-28.08.2014.jpg

The tower car has got white stripes and is numbered as car No 712 from Städtische Straßenbahn.

55221-turmwagen-712-28.08.2014.jpg

With a time exposure and bit darkness the car looks like the photo shows,

55216-turmwagen-712-28.08.2014.jpg

Only small things are to do. --- Door opener, Head light Glasses, warning stripes and couplings. Later this car gets a goods trailer.

Love it!!!!! Only 1 minor criticism if I may, use warm white LEDS they give a more natural "incandescent" colour to the lights but then this may have fluorescent lighting inside..... Then again I may just be jealous of your trams...

Thanks for your comments,
@ Tramcar Trev: You are right, but I thought that I have used warm white LEDS. So I'm astonished, that these lights where so bright. I think now, that my mistake was, when I tested them before they had been assembled, I used only a 1.5 V battery, so they looked very good. And afterwards I never tested it with the roof in the dark, so sh.. happens. May be later I try to change them.
