PNP Sound decoder for a Bachmann Spectrum K27

Are you looking for a sound card, only, that is a direct fit to their base board or how to wire one to their PnP adaptor to plug into that ? Is this a full DCC instalation to include the ESC ? Max

Thanks for replying, at the moment I'm just looking for a PNP Soundtraxx or something similar that plugs straight in. I realise these are quite old locomotives and the soundcards designed to fit them are going to be fairly hard to come by now...

Do you still have the DCC PnP adaptor card supplied with the loco ? I have an install on a Bachman 2-6-6-2 that uses this adapter with the same base board with an ESU DCC card. Otherwise my two K-27's have Sierra sound cards fitted, with RC/Battery/ESC. These latter are direct fits to the loco's main board.

There are 2 issues you need to be aware of - 1) Cards like the Sierra are not happy with PWM outputs from modern ESC's and some controllers. You need a bridge rectifier. 2) If you are going to activate the chuff from the cylinder mounted triggers you will need to deal with the issue of "inversion" of the chuff signal (I think that's what it's called). This us unique to the K-27. If you are going to drive the chuff from motor voltage it's not an issue. I can post a picture of the electrickary that fixes each, if needed with these installs. I understand PhillP here might have some understanding of Phoenix cards. Max
