Well, I pulled the trigger and picked one up from the Netherlands at a decent price with shipping. It runs great for 4AA batteries, very surprised. I am thinking about installing a 7.2 Nimh battery to get a little more life out of it. I was also thinking about making it look more like a DB BR 101. That would mean lengthening it to about 20 inches from buffer to buffer. Adding more realistic pantographs and changing the top section on the roof where the pantographs are. It's very tempting.
Trying out some Piko pantographs on it. It's a little stuby. I may try my hand at scratch building one first at about 24 inches long, I have 2 extra LGB LCE motor blocks I can use. I will run it stock for now and do a few mock ups before I decide to put the saw to this one.
