Sean, the contractors are busy on the picnic area revamp. I’m waiting for the delivery of the new operating cabin. I put out a request to the GCR members who run their trains on the CFR to assist with track relaying this weekend, so far only one has responded positively.
If I were nearer, I'd offer, but it's quite a way from me. But sounds typical, people are happy to play, but hide when it's maintenance time.

True..

But then the demographic of most Garden Railers, and possibly many Heritage Railway volunteers, put's them in a higher risk category, at the moment.

I am closer, and had previously offered to help, but would seriously have to think about it at the moment.. :(

I’m only going to the CFR every couple of days. The area is fenced off at the moment so no danger of contamination from others.

I’ve been to the CFR today for a couple of hours hours, I met up with a friend of mine who is a great supporter of the CFR. We had a mug of coffee in the operations cabin as the GCR is closed to the public this weekend.
The contractors were taking advantage of the current situation and pressing on with phase 1 of the picnic area renewal:-

They have removed most of the access ramp.

Nothing better than letting lose with some machinery :clap:

I hope loose standards don't lose any machinery, of course I'm letting loose with verbiage and have nothing to lose.
Rather loose standards of spelling / Grandma on my part - I blame it on my return from holiday and the fact that the house was moving much in the way that the ship had done for the past fortnight :eek:

The brain (or what's left of it) is slowly adjusting

I’m now at the CFR awaiting the arrival of the volunteers who are going to help reinstate the track bed and track .
This is the area to be worked on today:-

What a great day, six volunteers, Libby, James, Michael, Brandon, Hayden and not the least Ricky from this forum, turned up to help with the relaying and reconstruction:-

Sorry I could not get across to help out Paul, trying not to go anywhere at the moment.
That’s quite alright, discretion before stupidity Jon. I went to the CFR this morning for a final look around before shutting up shop for the duration.

The old rack line has been truncated somewhat.

I had a really good day Saturday, despite operating within the present difficulties. It's really pleasing to see how much difference a few hours of ballasting, weeding and brick laying makes. Once it's all tied together with the new picnic area, control cabin and steam up loop, it's going to be fantastic :D

I hope to be back down soon once everything has calmed down a bit.

Thanks for all your help Ricky, it was very much appreciated. Hopefully we will see you at the CFR in better times.

Nice to see things moving along Paul.

I see the contractors have demolished the ramp to the Café and bricked up the entrance, so I assume a new entrance that is fully TSI/PRM is being installed at the Car Park end of the building?

Look forward to seeing it finished, and to be able to visit, once the current situation is resolved....

The entrance to the Ellis Tea Room hasn’t been bricked up Gizzy. A new ramp which is longer and shallower than the previous ramp is being constructed. The contractors were pressing on with the work, but I’m not too sure wether they are still working since the lockdown was announced last night.
The same could be said for construction of the new Control Cabin, it was due for delivery on April 1st.
