Here's a new one for me - Alishan Forest Railway is an 86 km network of 2 ft 6 in narrow gauge railways running up to and throughout the popular mountain resort of Alishan in Chiayi County, Taiwan.

One guy in our group actually models this stuff ! Well, on a near enough basis, he had to find a justification for his Shay that we never had any of in NZ.

The Puffing Billy museum at Menzies Creek had a preserved real AliShan Shay. There was some talk about restoration but the last time I saw it many years ago, it was in a pretty bad state.
