Hello all,

I recently purchased an LGB power pack 50030/110 off eBay just for testing and short runs. I was in the middle of a test yesterday and the pack just stopped working. I checked everything. Once I replaced the pack with a borrowed one my trains were running again.
Any idea why this might happen? This doesn't mean much, but the listing said the pack was new / unused. It doesn't have any scratches or marks that indicate it ever was.
My next thing to do is get a voltage meter and see if there is any power running through it at all.

John,
That unit has a 7VA rating, and an internal thermal cutout.. Less than half an amp above 14 Volts..

What were you trying to run? What curves? How many cars was it pulling? Any grades? Lighting?

I think it is one of the weakest power supplies available for large scale..

I just went and looked at it and I think it may have been a poor connection with the clips.
Phil, I was running my Forney up at slight grade (not my worst one). Though, that would explain why it seemed to get weaker the longer I ran it. It was a three coach train at the time. The video I posted yesterday was run using the power pack. No lights or point motors on my railroad.

Could have been the connection then, but all the points above still stand..
Certainly good enough for testing on rollers, or light-engine.

Ultimately it's meant for smaller engines or a hand car, so no problems there!
Thanks all!
