The MX699 decoders have super caps built in. When changing from DCC running/control to programming mode you MUST make sure you allow time for the supercaps to discharge fully. To do this faster, I set my motor to full on and while it strarts accelerating I shut off the DCC power. 10 seconds after the motor stops turning I find I can program the decoder from the mxulfa or be able to run as DC. Any Zimo decoder with super caps added will do this!! The super caps keep the electronics active and thinking it is still on the DCC system.
